Submitting a Service Check-in
A service check-in is a short survey you complete on behalf of a resident to capture their feedback on the food service. Use it to record how residents feel about the meals and service at your facility.
Note: The questions shown in a check-in are specific to your facility. Common questions cover areas like taste, food temperature, and staff service, but your administrator selects which questions are active from a library of options. See
Configuring Service Check-ins for details.
Check-in Reminders
If check-in reminders are enabled for your facility, a Check-in due badge appears next to a resident's name on the Orders page when it has been a while since you last checked in with them. How often this badge appears depends on your facility's reminder frequency setting. If you don't see any badges, check-in reminders may not be enabled. See
Configuring Service Check-ins for details.
Submitting a Check-in
- From the Orders page, select a resident's name to open their order page.
- The Service Check-in section is at the top of the page. It shows when you last checked in with the resident and their most recent ratings.
- Select Check-in. The Service Check-in form opens.
- Confirm or change the Feedback Date. This defaults to today. Change it if the feedback relates to a previous meal service.
- Confirm or change the Meal Service. This defaults to the most recent service that has started – for example, if it is 12:30 pm, it will default to lunch. Choose No specific service if the feedback is general.
Under "How would you describe our food service?", rate each question by selecting an emoticon:
- Very poor
- Poor
- Okay
- Good
- Very good
You don't need to rate every question, but you must rate at least one to submit.
- In the Additional comments field, enter any comments the resident has about the food service. This is optional unless a rating of Poor or Very poor has been given – in that case, comments are required.
- Select Submit.
The Service Check-in section updates to show the new last checked date and the ratings just recorded.
Tip: You can submit a check-in for past dates. This is useful if you collected feedback during a meal service and are entering it later.
What Staff See After a Check-in
After a check-in is submitted, the resident's order page shows:
- The date and time of the last check-in
- Emoticon summaries for each question based on the most recent submission
