Searching, Filtering, and Grouping Residents

Searching, Filtering, and Grouping Residents

The resident list includes powerful search, filtering, and grouping tools to help you quickly find specific residents or organise the list for efficient order collection.

Filtering the Resident List

Filter by Location

The most common way to organise the resident list is by filtering to specific locations or wings. This allows you to focus on one area at a time during order collection.

To filter by location:
  1. Select the Filters button in the toolbar
  2. In the filters modal, select one or more locations/wings from the checkbox list
  3. Select Done (or tap outside the filter panel)
Only residents in the selected locations will be displayed. You can select multiple locations to view residents from several areas at once.

Filter by Status

You can also filter residents by their current status:
  1. Select the Filters button in the toolbar
  2. In the filters modal, select one or more status options:
    • Active - Residents currently active in the system
    • Away - Residents marked as temporarily away
    • Archived - Residents whose profiles are archived
You can select multiple status options to show residents matching any of the selected statuses. By default, if no status filter is selected, both Active and Away residents are displayed.

Quick Filter: Show Residents with No Main

To quickly see which residents haven't ordered a main dish for a specific meal service:
  1. Open the Show dropdown in the toolbar
  2. Select a meal service (e.g., "No main for Lunch")
The list will filter to show only residents who haven't ordered a main dish for that service. This is useful for following up with residents who may have incomplete orders.

Managing Active Filters

Active filters appear as removable tags below the toolbar. Each tag shows the filter criteria that's currently applied.

To remove a filter:
  • Tap the X on the filter tag
This allows you to quickly see what filters are active and remove them individually as needed.

Searching for Residents

You can quickly find a specific resident using the search box at the top of the list.

To search:
  1. Tap in the search box (placeholder text: "Search by name or room")
  2. Type any of the following:
    • Resident's full name or preferred name
    • Room number
    • Location or wing name
The list will filter in real-time as you type. To clear your search, tap the X button that appears in the search box.

Sorting the Resident List

You can change how residents are sorted using the Sort by dropdown in the toolbar.

Sort options:
  • Room (default) - Sorts by location and room order number
  • Name - Sorts alphabetically by resident name

Grouping Residents

If your facility has set up custom groups (such as dining tables or care units), you can organise residents by these groups.

To group residents:
  1. Open the Group by dropdown in the toolbar
  2. Select a group from the list
The resident list will reorganise to show group headers with residents listed under each group. Residents without an assigned group appear in a "No group assigned" section at the bottom.

Combining Search, Sort, Filter, and Group

You can use multiple tools together to customise your view:
  • Search + Filter - Search within a specific location or status
  • Group + Sort - Sort residents within each group
  • Filter + Group - Show only specific groups or locations
The resident list will update in real-time as you adjust these settings, making it easy to create the exact view you need for efficient order collection.
